"I have a special corner of my den that I've dedicated to my college days. There's my snapshots of crazy times with college friends, a piece of material from the lion mascot tail I got on a dare and a football signed by Joe Paterno. It's nice to add one of your large Lion Paw Pottery mugs to the collection. I want you to know your product is in good company! Thanks for the great college reminder!"

Welcome to Lion Paw Pottery, the full-line hand-crafted pottery business owned and operated by Jacalynn McCord. A graduate of Pennsylvania State University, she has appropriately been inspired to name her company after her alma mater.
Jacalynn, who was an art education major at PSU, then studied as a graduate student in Ceramics under Dave Dontigney and Jim Stevenson. She taught art in the school districts of Lower Moreland, State College and Waynesboro, PA. Today her professional work is dedicated full time to her pottery creations. She is treasurer of the Pennsylvania Guild of Craftsmen and the PA Designer Craftsmen. She exhibits at numerous shows throughout the east coast. Before his untimely death in 1998 Jackie's husband, Jim, was also a major part of Lion Paw Pottery.
Jim was a member of the Penn State football team as a 3-time letter winner who starred at tight end for the undefeated and Orange Bowl champion Nittany Lions teams of 1969 and 1970. A former member of Penn State’s coaching staff as a graduate assistant and a successful former restaurateur, "Number 86" joined his wife in the full-time management of Lion Paw Pottery in 1983.
Because of their interest and enthusiasm for Penn State university, Jacalynn and Jim designed an exclusive line of pottery bearing a Lion Paw as a distinctive design mark. Ideal for tailgate parties and social get-togethers, each piece blends beauty and function with school spirit. While the pottery is available at the numerous craft shows each year, you may now order selected Lion Paw Pottery pieces by mail or you may order right here on-line.
Penn Staters for four generations: the McCords have a long and proud Penn State tradition. In fact, Jim’s Penn State maternal grandfather (1st generation) actually introduced Beatrice White to Jim's father, Bill McCord. Following their graduation from Penn State, Bill and Bea were married in 1944 (2nd generation). All of Bill and Bea’s five children (3rd generation) earned their degrees from Penn State. And like their parents, three children also met their spouses at Penn State -- which is exactly where Jim met Jackie. Jackie had followed her brother to PSU. Today the McCord daughters Jen, Jess, and Jamie are Penn State students. The McCord family "definitely bleeds true blue."
